History of Applied Kinesiology

The American Heritage® Dictionary definies "kinesiology" as:
NOUN: 1. The study of the anatomy, physiology, and mechanics of body movement, especially in humans.
2. The application of the principles of kinesiology to the evaluation and treatment of muscular imbalance or derangement. Please understand the the work "kinesiology" is often used as a catch all for many forms of "body work."

Applied Kinesiology is a tool that licensed health care practitioners use to help assess the needs of the person they are working with. Probably one of the biggest misconceptions is that manual muscle testing and ak are synonymous. Nothing could be further from the truth. While manual muscle testing is used in Applied Kinesiology, it is only a small part of AK. Manual muscle testing is important in AK, but without what are referred to as the Five Factors, muscle testing is merely a directionless tool Ak helps to gather information and set a direction for the care to follow.

Developed in 1964 by Dr. George Goodheart, Applied Kinesiology is actually a group of tools that enables the doctor utilizing ak to check specific information your body is communicating. Our bodies do speak, we just need to understand the language. AK is that interpreter.
